The Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) is a state university in the Philippines. It’s commanded to give advanced professional, specialized, special instructions for special purposes and promote exploration and extension services, advanced studies and progressive leadership in education, husbandry, trades and lore’s, engineering and other fields. Its main campus is located in Dapitan. It turned a university in 2010 by virtue of Republic Act 9852. It was approved by President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo on December 15, 2009. It was formerly the Jose Rizal Memorial State College by virtue of RA 8193 patronized by Congressman RomeoG. Jalosjos of the 1st District of Zamboanga del Norte which was approved on June 11, 1996, by the President of the Republic, FidelV. Ramos. It was a connection of the Rizal Memorial Vocational School (RMNVS) in Dapitan City, the Zamboanga Del Norte School of trades and Trades (ZNSAT- formed in 1961) in Dipolog City, and the Siocon National Vocational School (SNVS) in the megacity of Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte. In 2002, two advanced education institutions( HEIs) within Zamboanga del Norte, videlicet the Katipunan National Agricultural School( KNAS) in the megacity of Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte and the Zamboanga del Norte Agricultural College( ZNAC) in the megacity of Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte, were integrated into also JRMSC pursuant to CHED Memorandum Order No. 27 series of 2000 therefore comprising the fourth and fifth premises, independently of JRMSU.

The first chairman wasDr. FelipeO. Ligan, who was appointed in 1997. On June 7, 2002, CHED Special OrderNo. 35, s. 2002 appointedDr. HenryA. Sojor as the OIC President of the Jose Rizal Memorial State College in concurrent capacity as chairman of Central Visayas Polytechnic College in Dumaguete, now Negros Oriental State University.
In the span of two times and eight months, the board of trustees also supposed it stylish for the council to have its endless leader. Therefore, on March 1, 2005, Dr. EdgarS. Balbuena assumed office as the alternate chairman of JRMSC pursuant to BOT Resolution No. 4, series of 2005 chaired by Fr. RolandoV. Rosa, OP.
With the appointment of Dr. Balbuena, the council charted a new course. With his extraordinary leadership, it took only four times and nine months for the council to be elevated to the status of a university. Indeed, the growth of the university means a continuing and growing commitment to academic excellence and quality, exploration, and productivity, community involvement, and cooperation for public development and global competitiveness. Putatively, he surfaced as a fireball, leading the people of Zamboanga del Norte and conterminous businesses towards an advanced quality life.

Jose Rizal symbolizes the corner of the point of origin of the name of the University and recognizing his donation to the development of Dapitan, his place of exile.
Color Blue symbolizes color of the spirit; secure; reliable; and married leadership.
Color Yellow sparks creative studies, symbolizes a pledge of positive future for the University.
Laurel Leaves symbolizes palm and success along the University’s bid.
Arsonist stands for Light that illuminates one’s path, guiding the University. It symbolizes stopgap, freedom and faith. The light when all differently is dark.
Open Book means anyone can inoculate knowledge into the stock of wisdom.

FACILITIES
JRMSU Arms Online Main Campus:
JRMSU boasts a wide range of lot installations and services ranging from the Sports Complex – Zamboanga del Norte’s newest out-of-door sports center – to Sardines Processing Center as well as accommodation facilities. The University also showcases wisdom laboratories, maritime and engineering laboratories, computer laboratories, speech and communication laboratories like the Job Enabling English Proficiency (JEEP) Lab, nursing lab which features the Human Simulator and the lately inaugurated PhP 19- M hostel and Restaurant Management (HRM) Laboratory which is funded by CHED. Scholars have also access to libraries, audio-visual apartments, conventions, couches, and internet and computer installations.
